Footage of the event, which was broadcast on live television, shows Maduro look up mid-speech, while his wife Cecilia Flores, who is standing behind him, flinches.

Maduro spoke after the incident; ‘As you can see a few seconds passed from the time of the explosion until the guards reacted, as they seemed to be processing what happened. “Seconds later, there was a second explosion.”
The assassins flew two drones each packed with 2.2 pounds payloads of C-4 plastic explosive towards Maduro, his wife and top leaders as he spoke at the 81st anniversary of the Presidential Guard. It seems that one of the drones was to explode above the president while the other was to detonate directly in front of him.
This attack could have been prevented.
SKYLOCK anti-drone systems may be deployed in various scenarios; protecting officials, critical infrastructures, or areas requiring wide protection coverage such as mass events.
The operator is able to deploy and operate the system easily-providing fast response time; from detection and acquisition to neutralization & even destruction of the drone and with a 360° rotating radar system SKYLOCK has the ability to detect up to 200 drones simultaneously.
Drone technology has advanced significantly opening up a whole new world of possibilities; and as you can see, in the wrong hands it becomes an unexpected and lethal weapon. A simple drone can now be purchased, at a relatively low cost, online or in a store easily accessible to everyone, including terrorists.
The fact of the matter is, that drone threats are real and as technology advances rapidly, anti-drones systems are no longer a thing of the future but a very real part of today’s threats as seen on Saturday.
